Policies and Procedures

Arrivals

Students should not arrive at school before 7:40 a.m. Students may enter the building at 7:45 a.m. Prior to that time, the staff is busy planning and is not available to supervise early arrivals. Students who participate in the breakfast program will be expected report directly to the cafeteria at this time. Instruction for the day begins at 8:15 a.m. Students who are car riders can be dropped off from 7:45 a.m. until 8:15 a.m. in the side parking lot. It is preferable that you arrive early enough so that your child will have ample time to walk to his/her class and be seated by 8:15 a.m.

Late Arrivals

Students who arrive past our 8:15 a.m. starting time are considered tardy. Parents must accompany their child to the office for a pass to enter class. Parents will be contacted if students are frequently tardy.

Early Check-out of Students

We are very concerned about the safety of all of the children here at Meadowcreek Elementary. For security reasons, anyone checking out a student will be required to show a picture I.D. (i.e.: Driver's License) prior to having a child released to exit the building with him/her. The teachers are not permitted to release students from the classroom. Your cooperation is appreciated as a safeguard for all the children. There is no student check-out after 2:15 pm.

Dismissal

All students are dismissed at 2:45p.m. Cars are not permitted in the bus lanes at any time. If you visit the school, please park in a parking sport before entering the school.

Attendance

Attendance is extremely important to a successful school experience for your child. In the event of excessive absence or tardiness, the classroom teacher will send a note to the parents. The social worker may contact parents if such problems continue. Parents are required to send a note explaining the reason for your child's absence from school. The following reasons for absences are valid:
  • For personal illness
  • For a death or serious illness in the immediate family
  • For recognized religious holidays observed by your faith
  • For absences mandated by order of governmental agencies
  • For conditions which render school attendance impossible or hazardous to health and safety.
  • For each absence, a note explaining the absence must be brought to school on the following day.
  • Students who are away from school for 10 consecutive days (unexcused absences) will be withdrawn from school. Upon return, parents can re-enroll students, but placement in previous classroom cannot be guaranteed.

Behavior Expectations

Meadowcreek Elementary is a PBIS school. We aim to teach our school-wide expectations and recognize students who consistently implement them. Our school-wide expectations include: being respectful, being responsible, and being problem solvers. Please see the PBIS link below for more information.

  • Parents should not enter campus for pick up prior to 2:30 pm

  • Students who arrive after 8:15 am are tardy and must be accompanied by an adult to be signed-in in the front lobby.

Please Note: All transportation changes must be done in person by the student's official guardian. ID is required for all changes. No changes will be made by phone or via email. This is a safety requirement, and no exceptions will be allowed.

Messages for Teachers

Calls will be received by the school between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Messages will be taken for teachers to return calls. Instructional times cannot be interrupted for incoming calls to teachers.

Visitation

We welcome and encourage parents to visit the school. For your child's security, ALL parents and visitors are required, by county policy, to show a government issued identification when entering the school. You will be issued a visitor's badge which must be worn and visible at all times during your visit. All classroom visitations must be scheduled in advance and approved by an administrator. For safety and security of all students, no classroom observations can occur without an administrator present. Teachers strive to maximize instructional time with students and are unable to confer with parents without an appointment.
