HOW IS THE PLAN DEVELOPED AND REVISED?
COMMUNICATION
Meaningful, two-way communication between teachers and families supports student academic success. Therefore, Meadowcreek Elementary provides regular opportunities for families to engage in communication related to their child’s education through Parent-Teacher conferences, school website updates, ParentSquare, Parent Center virtual meetings, Friday Folders, and other communication methods.
To the extent possible, all communication is translated and interpreted, and meetings are offered in various formats. Every effort will be made to reduce barriers to participation, including transportation and childcare.
Parents may communicate with the Parent Instructional Coordinator (Ms. Judy Pena-Perez) to assist in scheduling a meeting with their child’s teacher at a convenient time.
Parents can call the Family Center at (770) 381-4248 or email Ms. Peña-Pérez at Judy.Pena.Perez@gcpsk12.org.
OUR DISTRICT GOALS
The Blueprint for the Future is the strategic plan for Gwinnett County Public Schools. This plan is organized into four strategic priorities, each with three specific goals. To ensure success, these goals have clear objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track and measure progress. Each year, schools review their data to identify areas for growth and set long-term goals to improve them. This information is used to create a Local School Plan for Improvement (LSPI) aligned to the district's priorities. School staff, families, and community members participate in providing input for the LSPI. Families can easily access the latest strategic plan on the Gwinnett County Public Schools' website.
OUR SCHOOL GOALS
We will provide all students with high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment to meet high academic standards.
Goal #1: We will increase the identification of gifted and talented students.
1. Utilize universal screener data to identify areas of need and giftedness.
2. Reduce the percentage of students who are chronically absent through the implementation of a schoolwide comprehensive attendance plan by: establishing an attendance committee, tracking daily attendance data, identifying students at risk of chronic absenteeism, and using targeted interventions and family engagement strategies to improve student attendance and promote a schoolwide culture of being present at school.
3. Continue to implement MTSS with high levels of fidelity.
Goal #2: Students in Kindergarten through 5th grade will exceed 100% median progress toward typical growth between initial and final administration.
1. Utilize formative data to refine small group strategies and to identify students for small group instruction.
2. Increase opportunities to learn through consistently implementing a high-quality curriculum that reflects grade-level expectations, focusing on early literacy and the science of reading, and identifying subjects and grades to target for improvement.
3. Provide additional learning opportunities for English language development for multilingual students.
4. Provide access and opportunities for students to participate in various clubs and extended learning.
5. Teachers will be provided with ongoing opportunities to participate in highly effective, job-embedded professional learning designed to strengthen instructional practices, enhance content knowledge, and support differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
Skills to support the school’s academic goals:
1. Literacy- Read fluently to comprehend texts
2. Math- Math fluency and problem-solving
WHAT IS A FAMILY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PLAN?

This plan describes how our school will provide opportunities to improve family engagement and support student learning at school and at home. All students and their families are invited and encouraged to participate fully in the opportunities described in this plan. The school will provide information and as many opportunities as possible for all family members to participate.
WHAT IS A SCHOOL-FAMILY PROMISE?
It is a written agreement outlining how the school, students, and family will work together to ensure your child’s academic success. An effective School-Family Promise contains the following elements:
- Clear learning goals that are linked to the school’s improvement plan
- Specific skills students will learn during the year
- Strategies that staff, families, and students will use to improve student learning
- Ways to extend learning at home
- Methods that teachers and family members will use to communicate about student progress
- Opportunities for family members to observe and participate in the classroom
- Jointly developed by families, school staff, students, community business partners, and other stakeholders during our Planning Meeting
- It’s reviewed and revised throughout the year. The School-Family Promise is reviewed twice a year during our Parent-Teacher Conferences, workshops, and other meetings throughout the school year, and new families review it during registration.
ENGAGING AND EMPOWERING FAMILIES WITH…
- Title I Program Information: Program information is available during the spring Title I Planning Meeting and the fall Annual Parent Meetings, on the school website, and in the Parent Center.
- Curriculum Information: Knowing what your child is learning at school is important. We will keep you informed throughout the year about what your child is learning during parent meetings, conferences, Google page, and on our school website.
- Student Progress Monitoring: The Parent Portal is an online resource that allows families to view grades, attendance, schedules, assessments, and their child’s results, course history, and much more. Monitoring your child’s progress in school is an important way to be engaged.
- Parent Resources: We have many resources available for checkout to use at home with your child. We also host several parent workshops to empower you as you work with your child at home.
- Staff Training: We will ensure our staff is trained to communicate effectively with you. Your input on how we can improve our training is greatly valued.
- Communication: We will, to the extent feasible, communicate all information to you in a language and format you understand. Whenever possible, we will provide interpreters during parent workshops and academic events. Translations are available for most documents.
- Transition Support: Entering a new school can be scary for both students and families. We will host events to ensure both you and your child are aware of what is expected and how you can prepare as your child transitions to a new school level, college, and career.
